Similes: you are drawing a comparison with as ………… as ……………

 

vs. 

Metaphors: you are calling something another thing to draw the comparison using the verb TO BE:   He was a lion on the battlefield

Justify your answer by giving examples/pros and cons etc…

 

In order to understand similes, we have to focus on the adjectives described to understand the meaning. 

With Metaphors, it can be more difficult, so you would have to start to note down the context given to the metaphorical usage.
